My Second Life Experience

Hi!!

   A few days ago, I played an online game called Second Life and I want to share my experience with you.

   Second Life is a virtual reality game. You create your avatar and a tutorial welcomes you. You can fly, teleport and of course meet new people. It has some portals like art or game. You can teleport to anywhere, see new places. 


    Actually, I wanted to go to my school's virtual campus, Istanbul University Virtual Campus on Second Life. Unfortunately, I was unable to find it. I found one of my lecturers profile and the location was favored by him but when I clicked it, I ended up nowhere.  When this was the case, I went somewhere else to discover Second Life universe. I always wanted to see Italy so, I went to a little town called Ciampi. The classical music was playing background and the view was really good, it felt real.

TPACK&SAMR in Language Teaching

Hello!!! Today I would like to say a few words about two terms called TPACK and SAMR. These two frameworks emerged in language teaching because lately technology is a big part of life. To ease and create a better class environment, these two frameworks are needed.      Let's learn what is TPACK is first. This framework is created by  Punya Mishra and Matthew J. Koehler. TPACK focuses on technological knowledge(TK), pedagogical knowledge(PK), and content knowledge(CK). It offers an efficient approach to problems that teachers are facing in implementing technology to classes. According to TPACK framework, some specific technological tools like software, application, etc. are very important to show and guide students with a better understanding of the subject.        In TPACK framework, three types of knowledge- technological knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, and content knowledge- are combined in various different ways. UNESCO Loved It: Thinglink

Hello everybody!   Today's topic is a platform that is rewarded by UNESCO for   ICT in Education Prize. It is called Thinglink.   Thinglink is a platform that enables users to create interactive images and videos. It also offers VR and 360 degrees images.     It is very easy to understand the process of creating an interactive image or video because when you sign in to the website, it shows you a tutorial video. After that, you can see a bunch of inspiring projects to get help from.      In a classroom environment, thinglink will be very helpful to create new projects for students. Creating interactive presentations can be beneficial for students. They can experience Thinglink and learn more effectively. They can also interact with each other while working in groups and create an interactive image. With the 360 degrees feature, students can experience a unique learning way.

Animoto!

Hello everyone!! Today I am going to talk about how we can use animation in language teaching!!      Using technological tools in education is very effective I already said that in my earlier posts. Today I am using an animation maker called Animoto to my imaginary students to practice "introducing yourself".    I created an animation in animoto to create an example for my students. In this animation, I introduce myself. I tell my name, where I come from, how old I am, and which school I study.  I use the specific patterns from "introducing myself" like present simple tense. In this way, they learn how to introduce themselves in a simple way. Also, they can create one to see what they have learned.  You can reach my animation from here :)
